Lately

This is long overdue.

Spring break this year was quite eventful. I'm also reminded that i might only have one more left, depending on...a number of factors. Usually I anticipate some rest and relaxation with old friends and family. It started out with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship's (whom i help lead a bible study for) Spring Conference; Four days of intensive study for the first portion of the gospel of mark. That cost me 170. Got to meet quite a few new people and was also able to get some time leading the studies alone. The best part of these conferences are watching people change and grow and hearing about it firsthand from them. The snow was also a nice change of scenery, not conventional for most spring breaks. Like my housemate, who chose Miami.

When Wednesday came I was ready to leave on a jet plane. So I drove to the Sacramento Airport, and got there thirty minutes before my flight to Chicago. I haven't been this excited for quite a while, as the Chi is the best city in the world (notice i say this about a lot of cities) and I haven't even been there before. This is one of those times that i just need to get out of California, i get those a lot. Stopped over in Denver but landed in Midway half an hour early just before midnight. My high school friend Ben whom I haven't seen for three years was already waiting. He's currently studying sound production at the Columbia College of Arts. Very talented individual, doing what he wants, thats what i like. Lot of talented people from Chicago, d-wade, kanye, lupe, common and obama to name a few.

His apartment is in the South Loop of downtown Chicago, and from the 14th floor where he is, you get a ridiculous view of Lake Michigan and the field museum, and the rest of downtown. I was surprised that they moved all their furniture from Taiwan. And his dog bella got fat. Got to eat a lot of good food, that might not have been exactly good for my body. Did get treated to expensive sushi at a nice place called oysy, pronounced oishi, and i did see the Indiana Pacers checking into the Ritz Carlton.

Also visited the Moca, where they had a collection of the works of Buckminster Fuller, and the early days of energy efficiency in art and design, etc. I was at a store called Akira and they take your bags when you come in. On my way out I went up to a guy my the front and asked for my bag but he said he didn't work there. I apologized, but hesitated a bit because i recognized his voice, and then his face, and said "You're Bobby Lee". He smiled and took another gulp of his can of soda, and shook my hand awkwardly because he had the drink in his right hand. While I was there, I worked on a photo project called Chicago Blanc Noir where i shot Chicago in all black and white. Basically walked around all over downtown, and the Wicker Park and Belmont areas. Briefly visited SAIC which is a potential grad school for me. Very beautiful city. Theres really not much for me to say besides it was definitely visually inspiring in many aspects, and a great experience. Like Kanye said, " And what I love most, she had so much soul".
